A lot of people ask us the best ways to keep their house clean. They are looking for great methodologies and best cleaning products around. At Country Clean, we have all of that stuff. And it's great, of course it's necessary, and works effectively.
But one thing that is easily forgotten is cleaning prevention. What do I mean by that? I'm so glad you asked!
Cleaning prevention is preventing dirt, germs and grime from coming into your house to begin with. And probably the easiest way is one of the very best ways of doing it. It will take less than 5 seconds.
That's right. Keeping gross-ness out of your house, cleaner floors, cleaner air to breathe, etc. etc. in less than 5 seconds.
How to do it? Very easy. Take off your shoes. .
Taking shoes off is common practice in other cultures because of all of the germs and toxins that we walk around in.
Sure, with the advent of sewage systems and commercial farming, many of us are not walking around in the mud all day. But there are still LOADS of bacteria and even pesticides, chemicals and heavy metals on the surfaces that we walk around on. Oils that leak onto parking lots. Toxic sealants used on driveways. Two words. Public restroom. I won't get into the details but suffice it to say that tracking in that stuff into your home can be bad news for pets, children and adults.
If you have carpeting it is even more imperative to start this practice because of the way that the carpeting absorbs and holds onto the germs. Even with regular cleaning the pollutants can build up significantly.
So what now? Get into the practice of slipping off shoes and slipping into something comfortable. Make a designated spot in your entrance way for shoes and slippers to go. Consider having a variety of slipper sizes for guests when they arrive so that they can be comfortable when they enter.
Remember, it's less than 5 seconds!
